Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish…………Josiah went out against him………Necho sent messengers……What have I do to with you….I have not come against you this day…..God has commanded me to make haste. Refrain from meddling with God who is with me, lest he destroy you. Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him…….and the archers shot King Joshiah (2 Chronicles 35: 20-29)
In another instance Cyrus the King of Persia declares that the Lord God who has given him many kingdoms on the earth is commanding the release and return of the Israelites to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple.
So it is that the Lord God, Creator of all things can and will use all things to instruct, to bless and to warn us his people; to keep us safe and to teach His lessons. Yet so often we feel if it did not come from someone we consider “good” or from a religious organization it can not be a message from him. We tend to segment or compartmentalize His power into certain areas or avenues of our lives and feel that there are others with which He has no influence. We forget what is said in Romans: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
Knowing that there is an enemy who is the author of all lies and indeed there is no truth in him; should we believe all things and do all of what is commanded of us just because someone says they are speaking in the name Jesus or from God? Truly many horribly evil things have been done wrongly by deceived people, thinking they are doing “God’s will”. Here we are also given guidance in 1 John Chapter 4: “….but test spirits, whether they are of God;because many false prophets have gone out into the world. And how do we test what has been told to us? There are two fundamental ways, through prayer and through the scriptures. For many of the false teachings start with the premise and will definitively state, not to look in the bible and that the bible was written by men but to believe their “new” revelation. Flee from them with all haste and give their words no credence.
So today, through faith let us open our eyes, our ears and ourselves to God through all things. Let us look for Him, where he can be found and He is everywhere. Give thanksgiving for His Grace and Instruction that comes from the unlikely source. Understand that there is no place or no person whom He did not create and can not use for His purpose. And know that the basis of His purpose is Love.
May we begin to see and hear our lives and those things which happen to us daily through His eyes and ears that we may understand the purpose and the message that He has for us.
Have a blessed day.
