The prophet Micah writes (and Jesus quotes) For son dishonors Father, daughter rises against mother…..A man’s enemies are the men in his house hold. (Micah 7:6)  Jesus also predicts You will be hated by all nations…..many will be offended, will betray one another and will hate one another (Matthew 24 7&9)

You do not have to look far to find cursing in word and deed across today’s societies.  In every venue, politics, news, sports, town meetings and yes even in the church, vile extreme language and hardness of hearts is rampant.  In what medium can I turn to find relief from the disparaging discourse?  Alas, you’ll find it on all from TV to the newspaper, radio to the internet, the world has found new and innovative ways spew out darkness.  Curses and cursing is everywhere.  I don’t just mean the words we would call cussing, but the mean dispirited language of hate and division.

So into this you step to speak blessing.  Why would you do it?  For you are likely to be drowned out by the chorus of negative.  To what end when you open yourself up to ridicule?

Because in the noise of shouts, it is the whisper that gets noticed.  The world may not listen, but there is one in the world who is lost and will be led to safety by your words. And even when you think no one has heard, your voice has risen to heaven where it rings like ten thousand bells and falls upon the ears of God Himself.  As Jesus said to all his followers: in the world you will have tribulation; but BE OF GOOD CHEER, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.
